David’s love affair with golf began at a young age, growing up playing and caddying at Royal Aberdeen.  His deep-rooted connection to the game and Scotland’s golfing heritage inspired him to create Bonnie Wee Golf, where he could share his enthusiasm with fellow golf fans from around the globe.

With over 22 years of experience in the golf tourism industry, David combines his extensive knowledge of Scotland’s best golf destinations with a commitment to exceptional customer service. His hands-on approach ensures that every Bonnie Wee Golf tour is meticulously crafted, offering clients a seamless blend of challenging play and breathtaking scenery.

When he’s not orchestrating golf & sightseeing trips, David enjoys disappearing to Harris on the Western Isles of Scotland with his wife Julie. 

His favourite course? It’s a tie between Royal Aberdeen & Cruden Bay – but he’ll leave that debate up to you!

CABOT HIGHLANDS

Cabot Highlands, formerly Castle Stuart Golf Links, sits near Inverness in the Scottish Highlands. Designed by Mark Parsinen and Gil Hanse in 2009, it quickly gained acclaim for its challenging layout and stunning Moray Firth views.

Acquired by the Cabot Group in 2022, the course features rolling fairways, strategic bunkers, and fast greens, blending classic links with modern design. Coastal holes, including the signature 4th and 5th, offer breath-taking scenery.

A second 18-hole course, Old Petty, designed by Tom Doak, is set to open in August 2025.

After several decades of use as farmland, the land was restored to its original purpose, reopening as a premier links golf course in July 2000. Despite its relative youth, Kingsbarns quickly earned global recognition, winning the Best New International Course award in its opening year.

Designed by renowned American architect Kyle Phillips in collaboration with co-owner Mark Parsinen—one of the few owner/designer/developers in golf—the course is a par-72 masterpiece. Its unique design features a sculpted two-tier topography, creating a natural amphitheatre effect that provides breath-taking views and enhances the playing experience.

DUMBARNIE LINKS

Dumbarnie Links, Scotland’s newest championship golf course, opened in 2020 and has rapidly gained widespread acclaim for its exceptional design, playability, and stunning scenery. Designed by former Ryder Cup player Clive Clark, Dumbarnie offers a modern twist on traditional Scottish links golf, showcasing panoramic ocean views and a layout that appeals to golfers of all skill levels.

Located along the picturesque Firth of Forth, Dumbarnie features 14 holes with scenic vistas of the bay and coastline, providing a truly immersive experience. Several tees and greens are strategically placed near the water, enhancing the course’s visual appeal. The design incorporates three potentially driveable par-4s and multiple holes with risk-and-reward challenges, adding excitement and strategic playability to every round.

The course stretches from 5,300 to 6,900 yards but can be extended to a championship-ready 7,600 yards with additional professional tees. This versatility positions Dumbarnie Links as a prime contender for future major tournaments and professional events.

CARNOUSTIE GOLF LINKS

Carnoustie has hosted some of the most memorable moments in golf history. Major champions like Tom Watson, Padraig Harrington, Paul Lawrie, and Francesco Molinari all claimed their first Major victories at Carnoustie. Legendary golfer Ben Hogan famously played in—and won—his only Open Championship here. Although Hogan was initially unimpressed by Carnoustie’s lack of hills and trees, he quickly learned that a links course presents unique challenges. The test lies in its undulating fairways, strategically positioned greens, rough, and pot bunkers, combined with the ever-present Scottish wind.

Known as the toughest of all Open Championship courses, Carnoustie stretches to a formidable 7,421 yards, making it the longest course in the rotation. As Sir Michael Bonallack once said, “When the wind is blowing, it is the toughest golf course in Britain. And when it’s not blowing, it’s probably still the toughest.”

Founded in 1877, Royal Dornoch Golf Club has proudly held its Royal title for over 100 years. Known for exceptional standards, the club maintains a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere, offering visitors a taste of traditional Highland hospitality.

The iconic Championship Course was originally designed by the legendary Old Tom Morris, who skilfully utilised the natural links-land terrain to craft a magical golfing experience. His work inspired five-time Open Champion Tom Watson to describe Royal Dornoch as:

David’s love affair with golf began at a young age, growing up playing and caddying at Royal Aberdeen.  His deep-rooted connection to the game and Scotland’s golfing heritage inspired him to create Bonnie Wee Golf, where he could share his enthusiasm with fellow golf fans from around the globe.

With over 22 years of experience in the golf tourism industry, David combines his extensive knowledge of Scotland’s best golf destinations with a commitment to exceptional customer service. His hands-on approach ensures that every Bonnie Wee Golf tour is meticulously crafted, offering clients a seamless blend of challenging play and breathtaking scenery.

When he’s not orchestrating golf & sightseeing trips, David enjoys disappearing to Harris on the Western Isles of Scotland with his wife Julie.

Stewart Morrison

Managing Director

Stewart Morrison the dynamic Managing Director of Bonnie Wee Golf and cousin to Founder David Harris, is the heartbeat behind the seamless execution of our Bonnie Wee tours.

Stewart’s love affair with golf began during childhood summers spent with David on the golf courses on the Isle of Arran on Scotland’s west coast and other legendary Scottish courses. This shared passion eventually led him to join Bonnie Wee Golf. With a background in hospitality, Stewart brings over 15 years of expertise to Bonnie Wee Golf, guaranteeing each client enjoys a smooth and memorable golfing journey. Stewart will mark his 10 year anniversary with Bonnie Wee later this summer (2024).

When Stewart isn’t crafting golf tours, paying the company bills or keeping the team organised, he thrives on the fast-paced action of squash. You can often find him at the local squash club – on the court or in the bar!

Fun facts about Stew: He’s completed an Ironman triathlon and is a sucker for True Crime tv shows and podcasts.
