On their second visit in April, they laid out the first course. The first round of golf was played on Good Friday, April 15, 1892, between Lieutenant William McFarlane and William F. McDonnell, a Limerick businessman, using feathers and sticks to mark the course.

In 1894, Alexander Shaw invited legendary Scottish golfer Old Tom Morris to redesign the course. Morris placed great emphasis on the natural sandhills, famously declaring Lahinch the “finest natural course he had ever seen.”

Carnoustie has hosted some of the most memorable moments in golf history. Major champions like Tom Watson, Padraig Harrington, Paul Lawrie, and Francesco Molinari all claimed their first Major victories at Carnoustie. Legendary golfer Ben Hogan famously played in—and won—his only Open Championship here. Karen Simpson is our fabulous accountant with a knack for keeping finances in check. When she’s not crunching numbers, you’ll find her belting out tunes with her community choir, diving into a good book (not always the book club pick), or serving as a treasurer for a local food charity. She first tried golf at a work outing but lost count of her score – not that it stopped her!

Fun fact about Karen: the proud mum of two, Karen can deadlift 100kg, the equivalent of two powakaddy’s 💪🏼

With a background in Scottish Cycling and events, Julie brings a wealth of experience and a fresh perspective to business, enhancing the legendary Old Tom Morris Trail with her meticulous planning and passion for the history of golf in Scotland.

Julie’s journey into the world of golf tourism was a natural progression, combining her expertise in event management with her love for Scotland’s rich golfing heritage. Before joining Bonnie Wee Golf, Julie excelled in her roles with Scottish Cycling, where she managed major events and showcased her ability to deliver exceptional experiences.

At Bonnie Wee Golf, Julie is dedicated to curating unforgettable journeys along the Old Tom Morris Trail. Her attention to detail ensures that every aspect of the tour is perfectly planned, from tee times at historic courses to luxurious accommodations and bespoke dining experiences. 

Adding to the family business, Julie is the wife of David Harris, the owner of Bonnie Wee Golf. Her commitment to the company’s success and her passion for golf tourism make her an invaluable member of the team.

Kevin Willox

With a deep love for the game and a rich background in hospitality, Kevin plays a crucial role in ensuring that every golf tour runs seamlessly from start to finish.

Kevin’s journey into the world of golf tourism is rooted in his lifelong passion for the sport. Before joining the team, Kevin honed his hospitality skills at the renowned five-star Marcliffe Hotel in Aberdeen, where he mastered the art of exceptional customer service.

When he’s not coordinating tours, Kevin can often be found on the golf course himself, enjoying a round or two and perfecting his game. He shares a friendly rivalry with Cam at Bonnie Wee Golf, often competing at Deeside Golf Club to see who can claim the bragging rights for the best score.

Cameron Howe

Lead Golf Tour Specialist

With a knack for building unforgettable relationships with clients and a passion for the game, Cam is your ultimate Scottish golf adventure specialist.

Cam’s journey in the golf industry has been seasoned with experience, including a stint at Trump International along with his passion for playing golf. During his time there, he honed his skills and gained invaluable insights into delivering unparalleled service and creating memorable golfing experiences.

When he’s not organising the perfect golf tour, you can catch Cam on the fairways of Deeside, where his competitive spirit comes out! He often engages in spirited rivalries, especially with his Bonnie Wee colleague Kevin.

Off the course Cam is often found enjoying some nice beer or a wee tequila with his girlfriend Lois, he’s a big Newcastle fan ⚽️ and he dotes on his rescue dog, Edgar 🐕

Stewart Morrison

Managing Director

Stewart Morrison the dynamic Managing Director of Bonnie Wee Golf and cousin to Founder David Harris, is the heartbeat behind the seamless execution of our Bonnie Wee tours.

Stewart’s love affair with golf began during childhood summers spent with David on the golf courses on the Isle of Arran on Scotland’s west coast and other legendary Scottish courses. This shared passion eventually led him to join Bonnie Wee Golf. With a background in hospitality, Stewart brings over 15 years of expertise to Bonnie Wee Golf, guaranteeing each client enjoys a smooth and memorable golfing journey. Stewart will mark his 10 year anniversary with Bonnie Wee later this summer (2024).

When Stewart isn’t crafting golf tours, paying the company bills or keeping the team organised, he thrives on the fast-paced action of squash. You can often find him at the local squash club – on the court or in the bar!

Fun facts about Stew: He’s completed an Ironman triathlon and is a sucker for True Crime tv shows and podcasts.

Rachel Broere

Marketing & Communications Manager

Rachel’s background in major events management is extensive. She has collaborated with industry-leading brands, agencies, and sporting bodies to deliver unforgettable experiences. 

Rachel is known for building great relationships with suppliers, ensuring that every aspect of Bonnie Wee Golf’s operations is supported by trusted partners. 

Rachel is a proud mum to two young kids who enjoy being part of the extended Bonnie Wee Golf team. Never one to sit still, when she’s not planning golf trips, Rachel is trying to become a better runner and is an enthusiastic beginner golfer. Her dedication to the sport paid off last year when she celebrated her first birdie at the iconic Royal Dornoch.
